Jag läser följande musikrecension av Phoenix spelning och förvånas hur samma spelning kan väcka så olika reaktioner.

As the crowd cheered, my impatience grew, gathering intensity until I was quietly booing amidst the cheers and saying ‘You suck’ under my breath. I hated their retro, disco dance tunes and couldn’t wait for them to leave the stage. […] The audience, unlike me, was lapping it up, cheering, screaming and going totally ballistic when Thomas Mars jumped into the seething crowd below, whilst I cringed at what seemed to be a carefully choreographed move, lacking spontaneity and authenticity. The crowd loved it when they played old chestnut Too Young and current hit Long Distance Call. I wanted to vomit.
